Indian legal bias against the web
Like every other public service, the Indian legal system creaks to keep up with the needs of the populace. Which could explain why it selectively chooses to prioritise some cases. And there seems to be a definite antipathy against those working online.
Remember 2004's brouhaha involving the mobile phone recording of two DPS kids that made it onto bazee.com?
This time its Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, who are being sued over sex selection ads in India. Which is more than a little hypocritical since these ads are probably published in all classifieds, including leading newspapers.
It will be intersting to observe whether this case has any merit and what the repurcussions will be for other online businesses.
