Driver's License in NSW
Hi All,
We are planning to relocate to Sydney shortly.Me,wife and 2 children.I am an Indian origin and having the US Driver's License issued from Texas.Again I need to give road test over there?Or I am excluded from any test, Please let me know the procedures for that.
And if anyone will able to tell me how to go with or the points we have to take care while buying car and car insurance there in Sydney.Or it is right idea that I would go for a renting a car instead of purchasing one.And where will I get the prices for the cars online.
I am most welcoming all the tips and ideas from every one for relocation,on schooling, renting and job hunting in Sydney.
Thanks
Santhosh

Hello Santosh: I have some good news regarding the TX to NSW drivers license requirements - you shouldn't have to re-sit the written/driven license. I had US licenses for ~7 years, and I'm not sure if that was a factor, to find out for sure read up at http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/newtonsw/international_drivers.html.
If you're interested in renting, I can personally recommend http://www.bayswatercarrental.com.au as being pretty cost effective. For more on buying a car, insurance, etc - http://chingrimaachh.com.au/2007-apr-22-sydney.

Hi Santosh - I don't have any experience leasing cars, and now that you mention it, I realise that I haven't really seen any promotions for doing it. Hope you share your discoveries as to whether/how its done here!
